Our last major trip was six weeks long, it seems appropriate to let you know how we’re getting on. Last time, we attempted to whiz around the world in six weeks. We did this but felt, especially in Thailand, that we missed a trick. So, here we are, six weeks in, and we have [...] It’s been a while since I blogged in LA. It’s not that I got fed up with it after LA – I was incapable of getting to a computer and boring you with the insignificant details of my life. Was I incapable because there was no internet access where I was? No. Was it that [...] Seriously, how do people in LA function? It’s a brilliant place, it really is. It has everything here you could possibly want; imagine London but cleaner, with nice weather and a few beaches and you’ll be just about there. It has a flaw though, you know when you’ve done something and you go away for [...] We didn’t end up doing too much in Hawaii (with apostrophe “Hawai’i” or without? Please vote on the right) because we realised that this is the last of our beach destinations and with reports of snowstorms in New York we thought it would be best to make the most of it. The weather’s been pretty [...] Have you ever been or are you now involved in espionage or sabotage… or between 1933 and 1945 were you involved, in any way, in persecutions associated with Nazi Germany? This is the question that you are faced with on form I-94W, the form that you are obliged to fill in before entering [...] The Telstra Stadium in Sydney (The Olympic Stadium) is pretty good. Not dissimilar to the new stadia popping up in the UK every week but it’s big, brash and you can take your booze into the stands. We started drinking at about 2pm at Lowenbrau (the place we went to last year with the [...] Our last day in Newcastle was much better, the sun came out and we weren’t going to waste it so after I managed to drag Pezza out of bed we hit the pool, it was still a bit too windy to lie on the beach. After a few hours of nothingness it was time to [...] We have the car. Getting it at Brisbane airport was unusually efficient for Australia – one girl sorted us out very quickly which goes against the usual Aussie philosophy of ‘why employ one person to do a job when you can employ three who can all get in each other’s way’. Sat Nav [...] Apologies for the lack of blog action. I got a bit behind in Krabi and have just spent the last three nights on an island where it was $2 for 15 mins on a dial up connection. We’re now in Cairns airport heading to Brisbane to pick up the car to commence our road trip, [...] When we were landing in Krabi we did what everybody always does (normal people anyway, not the ‘too cool for school’ brigade who like to pretend not to be bothered and keep reading their book) and looked out the window to see what it was like.
