Weekly Photo: Plaza de España, Madrid
We went to Madrid in a large group (around 12 of us I think) in June 2004. Barcelona gets a lot of the press and cheap flights but Madrid is more then a worthy home for a few days.
This is a picture of the Cervantes Monument, where we spent our final day with a chronic hangover.
What I learned on this trip is that in the less-touristy areas of continental Europe they don’t really have such thing as a ‘drinks measure’, they simply pour the spirit unil you ask them to stop. As an experiement I wondered if they would pour it all the way to the top but they did stop an inch or so from the top of the glass to put the orange in my vodka. I think I established the cause of the hangover…

I frequently have a chronic hangover.
Haha Matt – bad hangovers must be one of the worst aspects of couchsurfing!
Spain has to be notorious for the no measure pour with Barcelona leading the pack. Gotta love it!
Chris,
It’s the future but does tend to mean an early night!
