Weekly Photo: Plaza de España, Madrid

We went to Madrid in a large group (around 12 of us I think) in June 2004. Barcelona gets a lot of the press and cheap flights but Madrid is more then a worthy home for a few days.

This is a picture of the Cervantes Monument, where we spent our final day with a [...]

Getting Through an Airport

We’re about to go on a trip where we will fly at least ten times, that means ten airports. It got me rambling…
It’s summer time! In the UK this means abandoning the average July and August weather in favour of warmer climes. This involves a trip to the airport, a genuine melting pot [...]

Weekly Photo: Alpine Valley, Val d’Isère 2009

It’s about time I had another Mountain post. I was tempted to go for Whistler but with the Tour de France passing through Bourg St Maurice this week I opted for this view down the Isère valley from the Solaise chairlift in Val d’Isère. Today the Tour started from just a few miles [...]

Swine Flu and Me

Give it a couple of months and I’m sure this post will seem a bit worthless as most people will know somebody who has had this virus.
I blame myself, I honestly said to Pezza on Monday night that Swine Flu can’t be that big a deal as we do not know anybody who’s got it. [...]

Weekly Photo: Krakow, May 2008

The centre of Krakow immediately reminded me of Prague with its style and huge market square. Indeed, the centre itself is listed as a World Heritage Site.
We went in May 2008 and I would like nothing more than be able to tell you about how it has traditionally been one of the leading centres [...]

Our first weekend back from Tignes in May and we went to a charity dinner at Anfield raising money for the Marina Dalglish Appeal and supporting Tim & Ollie who cycled 1000 miles from Barcelona to Liverpool. At this dinner we won four tickets in the Auction for the Wakestock Festival in Abersoch.

This weekend [...]

Excitement Building & Quasi Planning

So many people say that half the fun in going away is in the planning. I’ve never agreed, sure it’s fun to flick through brochures and pick out your hotel for your two week break but if that’s only half the fun you have then maybe you should have picked a different holiday!
This time, [...]

Monday Memories – #8 Stadia Around The World

Being a supporter of Manchester United and a follower of English Cricket I’ve had lots of opportunity to enjoy some of the finest stadia in the world.
Here’s a little slideshow of some of my favourites (description below with links to relevant blog post).

1. Millennium Stadium, Cardiff
2. Santiago Bernabéu – Madrid
3. MCG – Melbourne
4. Stadium Australia [...]

Weekly Photo: My Favourite Beach (so far!)

Continuing to post my favourite photographs I have taken since I started this blog. This week we’ll go for Railay Beach in Krabi – the limestone cliffs jutting out of the sea and the longtail boats make this area of the the world very recognisable.

My blog on Krabi, including link to the map is [...]
