America…
This week has seen the start of our latest American phase! Scratching for an excuse as we often do, the Forbeses decided that they wanted to throw a party last weekend and gave it a USA theme on the basis that most of us are off to the States at some point in the next month.
With any celebration it is only right to remember those who are not able to be with us and the occassion served as an opportunity to remember George. Andy & Laura’s cat was killed in a RTA last week in what appears to be a hit and run. They have two new kittens (Harlem & Maddisson, both named after towns in Georgia) who arrived on Friday and seemed to accept the party atmosphere on Saturday pretty well.
As with any Twenty20 gathering the day started at 11am for some ‘Graham Napier’ gins. In hindsight the strength of our gins may have been a mistake as I spent the majority of the day being informed how leathered I was. I’ll pop a link on in due course but the photos of the party and everybody’s fancy dress can be found on Facebook.
Andy pulled out the stops to Americanise his house with flags, posters etc and many people came in American fancy dress, my own costume being the full American Suit – I think the character is called ‘Uncle Sam’ but that might be the American equivilent of Gordon Brown. Not sure. However, the day was great with endless games of Beer Pong, an American quiz and lots of American music.
The America trips coming up are a trip to Florida in August and a holiday to California for Mark & Erin’s wedding. I write this blog on the plane on the way to San Francisco for the wedding. Out plan is to head to San Fran for a couple of nights, spend two nights in Morgan Hill for the wedding and then to a beach house in Santa Cruz. It’s safe to say that the holiday is going well so far; I write this from the first class cabin having been upgraded with Pezza, Paulie, Karen, Stuoobs & Easty. I’ll upload the blog once in San Fran.
