Summer! Yay!

How good is summer? Seriously?

I’ll tell you, it’s the best thing in the history of the world ever. The only thing that would make it better is some snow. We had Tit Monday last week, for those of you who do not know what this is I refer you to Urban Dictionary that defines it as:

Tit Monday is that special day in the year when, for the first time, the temperature rises above that magical point which causes girls getting dressed in the morning to decide to show a bit of skin.

Now, if that’s not a reason to be chirpy I don’t know what is!

Building on the success of Tit Monday was the weekend and with that came the end to the Premier League. It didn’t start too well as all of the games were on Sunday, this gave me a brief insight into what Saturdays are going to be like between now and 16 August with no Jeff & The Boys / Fantasy League. I hope to combat such boredom with a combination of Cricket & Alcohol!

Anyway, the football on Sunday went well and it was great to actually have an exciting end to the season. It’s the trouble with being a United fan, winning the league by 10 points in April just isn’t fun anymore, honestly, it’s far better to have a nervous and exciting end to the season. The cherry on the icing was that Giggsy got the goal that sealed the title and in so doing earned him a record tenth title and the honour of lifting the trophy to boot. Surely a Knighthood can’t be far off. Sir Ryan?

With title glory comes the desire to get smashed and we tottered down to Pete & Julie’s (AKA mum & dad’s next door neighbours) who were having a barbecue and had plenty of gin. Julie was good enough to find us the largest glasses for our gins. I don’t remember much after this picture being taken:
Gin

Summer carried on from there. The next day at Stuoobs’ house was a scorcher and we decided to have an impromptu barbecue. Cue the silly pictures of us having a Monday lunchtime barbie…

Monday evening brought one of the more unusual things in life. I went for a run when I got back from Stuart’s (that’s not the unusual thing) and after a big drink of Vimto decided to have a shower, just as I was about to get in the buzzer in the flat went, I assumed it was someone who had forgot their fob and needed letting in. I then had a quick shower, popped on my dressing gown and decided to have a peep through the door just in case it was anybody for me. I saw a woman there.

I opened the door and there was a very attractive young lady, beautifully turned out. She took a step into the flat and noticed that despite being freshly showered and wearing a dressing gown, I was looking at her oddly. She then asked me, “Are you George?”

What kind of person do you think goes out dressed like that and can’t tell by looking at you if your the person she is meant to meet? She was far better than the crackheads who hang around Piccadilly at night and although I didn’t experience any of her trade skills, she seemed to be a credit to her profession.

Tuesday was another cracking day and with the sun shining what is the worst news you can get? Our water went off so a frantic Pezza ran down to the Gym to shower before work and the building manager told her the water for the whole building was off and gave no clue as to when it would be back on.

I took the opportunity to go for my run in the morning before the sun really got going. I extended it a bit more to 6km this time, hoping that this will help me get to 10km on Sunday.

I was happy with this, I just about managed to get through it without thinking I was going to die. I showered in the gym (where they are having the showers renovated) and came back up, fortunately there were no hookers loitering about. Feeling refreshed after my run I received more bad news, Foe wanted me to play football; I could barely stand let alone contemplate an hour of football on the hottest day of the year. On that note, how good is the new Bulmer’s advert??

And that leads us nicely onto today. My first job was to totter down to Old Trafford to pick up four of these:

They are, indeed, our tickets for the Champions League Final in Moscow. Our itinerary is to leave Manchester early on Tuesday and fly to Moscow via Heathrow and St Petersburg. That gives us all day Wednesday in Moscow before returning home with the European Cup on Thursday.

After getting the tickets Stuart & I took a trip into Manchester to have a nosey at the Rangers fans gathering for the UEFA Cup Final at City’s ground this evening. My Lord those chaps know how to get pissed. We saw girls carrying full crates of Tennants Super and blokes with a bottle of Buckfast in each hand. This picture was taken outside Samuel’s Oyster Bar at 12.05pm:

The Oyster Bar is a Sam Smith’s pub and therefore serves the cheapest and strongest beer in town. When we were there the atmosphere was brilliant, thousands of people i n town to have fun. As I write this it is some seven hours later; those crates of Tennants Super will have gone, as will the bottles of Bucky (known in Glasgow as “wreck the hoose juice”). I wonder what the atmosphere is like now and how many of those will still be standing. I imagine that one or two of the crate wielding ladies may have brought the booze in order to set up camp by one of the big screens but even so, I think in a drink-off between Rangers fans today and United fans in Moscow next week, the Glasgow based team will have the upper hand!

As I write we still have no water so we’re reduced to filling up buckets from the car park and using that to flush the bog. I therefore ask you all to donate £2 a month each to the SALFORD QUAYS WATER APPEAL as some of the yuppies here haven’t been able to use their dishwaher for a day now. Some have even been unable to put their little fit-in-a-handbag dog in the bath and you can’t expect poor poochie to go in a bucket now, can you? Please give generously.
