Save the Whales!
After arriving back in Manchester at 5.00pm on Sunday I was picked up by The Don at 7.00pm in order to head back down the M6 ready for our jolly to Reykjavik. 4 hours sleep later and we’re in a taxi to Gatwick.
So, what do we need for our holiday of Iceland? We bought Shorts, vodka and Johnnie Walker and nearly some sunglasses. The journey was textbook really, good trip to the airport, no queue at check-in, somehow managed to get into the priotity line for security and to top it off we had three seats between us to maximise our snooze. The only downside was me being idiotic and leaving my washbag in my hand luggage, needless to say I had a number of containers of liquid over 100ml. I felt like a ruddy idiot.
We immidiately headed out to the Whale Watching, we boarded the boat
and we were off. This is where I realised that Iceland is cold, sprinting out into the northern Atlantic can be a bit brisk. It’s not prime Whale season just yeat but we did get a couple of sightings of Minke whales, a few Harbour Porpoises (council whales) but the highlight was the White Beaked Dolphins who were up for a bit of showing off and bow riding.
A fantastic excursion, we’re back at the hotel now weighing up one of three options:
- Food
- Beer
- The Northern Lights
We may be able to squeeze all three in. I’ll let you know.
