What's all this then?

Ok, through lack of much else going on at the moment I thought I’d start a Blog. This is HIGHLY LIKELY to start very well and eventually peter out into insignificance.

The purpose of it is to document our audacious holiday that begins on 3 November and scheduled to finish 16 December.

Why am I doing this?

Well, as the majority of the holiday will be spent in some sort of drunken hole it will be nice for me to have something that I can look at to remember the trip by and, of course, to make anybody reading this in work a little jealous.

As the blog title refers to my retirement it seems appropriate to use it as a way of letting you know the efforts Karen and I are going to to get out of retirement. Plans are afoot to take advantage of the UK’s ever growing population and run a children’s nursery. The target is to be out of retirement within 6 months. As I retire on 22 September then I have until 22 March to achieve the goal.

Friday is looming. Somehow I don’t think I’ll be getting banners and a carriage clock from work but they have been very kind to me since I delivered the news that my ambitions lay elsewhere. Tomorrow is to be spent gathering more nursery details and looking around a good one in Formby so that only leaves me three more days of honest work. the thought isn’t quite as liberating as you may think!

As for the travel plans, the holiday is 90% booked. We’re just waiting to hear on a couple of the hotels we have requested but all the flights and many of the hotels are sorted. The breakdown of the places we’re visiting is:

Dubai, Bang Cock, Krabi, Brisbane, Dunk Island (on the Reef), Sydney, Honolulu, LA, Vegas, New York. Flying all the way except to Sydney where we will be driving down the Gold Coast.

Wish me luck.
